Job title: Personal Assistant (PA)

Reporting to: The Employer

Location: Bradmore, Wolverhampton WV3

Job purpose

To assist with a variety of tasks which will assist the employer who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests.

About the employer

Our client is a 49-year-old woman who has a severe learning disability, a diagnosis of diabetes and epilepsy living in the Bradmore area of Wolverhampton is looking to recruit Personal Assistants to provide support to help maintain her daily living, personal care, and general well-being.

Main duties

Social duties

  • Keep in touch and socialise with family and friends
  • Attend medical appointments when required
  • Support to access the local community
  • do activities in the home such as colouring

Personal care:

  • Support with bathing/showering
  • Dressing
  • Teeth cleaning
  • Adminstering medication

Domestic duties:

  • Support with grocery shopping
  • Cooking and serving nutritious meals and snacks
  • General cleaning around the house
  • Changing linen
  • Laurdry
  • Ironing

These duties may vary from day-to-day.

Type of person that you/they are looking for

  • Values: someone that is honest, reliable, punctual, non-judgemental, ability to build good relationships based on trust and respect, flexible, adaptable, easy going, able to work alone, positive, willingness to travel, understands equality & diversity.
  • Specific requirements: someone with an understanding of Learning Disabilities. Someone who can support with taking care of afro Caribbean hair.
  • Other: due to the nature of this role including medical & personal care the potential employer will be considering female applicants only.

Hours of work: Various hours available

Rate of pay: £12.30 per hour

Skills, qualifications, and experience

Essential:

  • Driving licence
  • Car and appropriate insurance
  • Previous experience in learning disabilities
  • Knowledge of diabetes & epilepsy
  • Confidentiality
  • Good at building relationships

Preferred:

  • Computer literate
  • Good communicator
  • A good listener
  • Ability to support people with behaviours which challenge

Successful applicants will require DBS checks & Employment References.

This role is funded by the Local Authority and is paid 4 weekly.
